Event Rules for the Strawberry 55 and 28

  • The Strawberry 55 and 28 events are not competitive races – please be a good advert for cycling and show consideration to other road users
  • All riders must obey the Highway Code
  • Wearing of cycle helmets conforming to CE Standards EN1078 is compulsory for all riders under 18 and highly recommended for all other riders
  • You must display your official rider number on your handlebars facing forward
  • Never ride more than two abreast and do not attempt any dangerous passing
  • Please signal any intention to turn left or right and don’t stop suddenly – there may be cars or other cyclists directly behind you
  • Please do not cycle on the pavement or footpaths
  • Slow down when passing horses – indicate your presence (by bell or calling out) and pass wide on the right
  • Don’t go mad down hills!
  • Private support vehicles are not allowed on the route during the event
  • Any rider with a medical condition or unsure of their physical ability to take part in the bike ride is advised to take medical advice from their GP prior to the event

Sweepers will leave Histon Rec. and Gamlingay Eco Hub at 10:00 and ride the Strawberry 55 at 12mph, completing the course at 3:00 pm, at which time the event closes. If you are caught by the sweeper you will be asked to hand over your ride number and you will then be riding without event support.


Age Restrictions for Strawberry 50 Events

  • Children and under 16’s – participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has paid to enter the event
  • Under 15’s are not allowed to participate in the 55 mile route and under 13’s are not allowed to participate in the 28 mile route
